it was 2019 when I started watching numerous videos about woodworking, specifically focusing on live-edge furniture, epoxy works, and cutting boards. At the time, I lived in Union, NJ. On “Black Friday,” I made my first wood tool acquisition—a Milwaukee portable table saw—and a massive Milwaukee power tools package. However, I had no space to practice woodworking as a hobby.
In 2020, I moved to Livingston, NJ, to a larger house with an enclosed garage, where I began my new hobby. Initially, I built a workbench to start my creations. My first project was my daughter’s bed house when she was one and a half years old. She loved it, adorned with flowers and fairy lights on the ceiling. My second project was a fashioned clothes rack, and many more followed.
Around summer, I decided to showcase some of my creations on Facebook, and I received orders, particularly for customized cutting boards. Being Brazilian and having a genuine love for BBQ, I wanted to share my passion for BBQ and wood through premium cutting boards. Seeing a growing trend, my desire to create continued to grow. However, my half of the garage (laughing), the other half filled with my wife’s belongings and household items, couldn’t support me in creating even a dining table.
So, in October 2022, I leased a shop located in Randolph, NJ, just 20 minutes from home. From this point to the present, I invite you to learn about JOW Woodworks’ story.
